Cucumber mosaic virus, which we detect often in gladiolus samples, causes white break mosaic. This disease can cause flowers to be blotchy and open slowly. Cucumber mosaic virus is spread by aphids.
Mild mosaic, a gladiolus disease with symptoms that can include faint mottled patterns on leaves and flower stems, is caused by bean yellow mosaic virus, an aphid-transmitted member of the potyvirus group. We find viruses of this group frequently in gladiolus samples.
